Order of symptoms
In most corona patients, symptoms begin with an increased temperature or fever, with coughing as the second symptom. Shortness of breath and muscle pain come next; these symptoms almost always come at the same time. People then suffer from nausea, upset stomach and vomiting. Finally, intestinal symptoms such as diarrhea occur. The study analyzed the development of the virus in more than 55,000 patients. Other symptoms, such as sore throat, fatigue and headache were also studied, but the order of symptoms was consistent in all cases.
The symptoms themselves are more common with other viruses, however, the order in which corona symptoms occur is particularly unique. With comparable viruses, the order in which symptoms occur is different. The WHO figures for the coronavirus have been compared to figures for the influenza virus and previous viruses, SARS and MERS. The researchers and scientists discovered that the flu usually starts with a cough and later a fever, which is the opposite to corona. With SARS and MERS, symptoms often started with a fever and a cough, but patients were much more likely to suffer from intestinal symptoms than with the coronavirus.
