Despite the troop’s growing comfort around Gerard, one major hurdle remained completely unresolved. Whenever staff attempted to draw Lola toward the medical pass-through door, the silverback gently placed a heavy arm over her back, keeping her anchored within the group. The troop’s deep protective instinct over their sick member prevented her from moving toward the human handlers independently.
Gerard conferred with the lead keepers inside the monitoring office to map out their next tactical step. They all agreed that attempting to treat Lola while surrounded by seven protective primates remained far too dangerous. The only viable solution was to design a controlled separation strategy that would move Lola into an isolated clinical bay without triggering panic or aggression.
