Julian stood frozen in the galley, absorbing the crushing news. The safety net was completely gone. He looked back down the dimly lit cabin toward Suite 1A, where the corporate video screen was just beginning its twentieth loop of the evening. “Then… is there literally anything else available on this entire aircraft?” Julian asked, his voice cracking slightly with desperate fatigue.
“Any seats at all?” Sarah stepped over to her master panel and checked the seating chart, taking just a few moments longer than necessary to make him wait. She tapped the glass slowly, humming under her breath. “Well,” Sarah said, looking up with a gentle, sympathetic tilt of her head, “we do have exactly two open seats left on the entire plane.” She paused dramatically. “They are in the very back. In economy.”
